Overview

The Arc A770 is Intel's flagship Alchemist desktop GPU, launched in October 2022 as the top-tier card in the Arc A-series lineup. It was Intel's most ambitious first-generation desktop offering, competing in the upper mid-range segment at a $349 launch price. The card is available in both 8GB and 16GB GDDR6 configurations, with the 16GB variant being a notable differentiator at its price point.

The A770 features Intel's full Alchemist GPU implementation with hardware ray tracing, XeSS upscaling, and AV1 hardware encode and decode. The 16GB version gives it significantly more VRAM than most competing cards in its class, which can be relevant for memory-intensive workloads and future-proofing. Both variants operate at a 225W TDP. As with other Alchemist cards, driver improvements through 2023 considerably lifted real-world performance and game compatibility.

The Arc A770 16GB particularly suits buyers who want a high VRAM buffer at a moderate price β€” useful for content creation, modding, and texture-heavy games at 1440p. The 8GB version competes more directly on raster performance. Either way, the A770 is best evaluated with up-to-date drivers, which resolve many of the issues that affected it at launch.
