Hardware Profile
Overview
The Radeon RX 7900 GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition) is a mid-tier variant within AMD's RDNA 3 high-end lineup, originally launched in China before receiving a wider global release in late 2023. It slots between the RX 7800 XT and the RX 7900 XT, offering a reduced configuration of the Navi 31 die at a lower price point.
It carries 16GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, sharing the same memory configuration as the RX 7800 XT but pairing it with the larger Navi 31 chip for greater compute throughput. RDNA 3's improved hardware ray tracing, AV1 hardware encoding, and FSR 3 with Fluid Motion Frames are all present. The chiplet architecture of RDNA 3 applies here as well.
The RX 7900 GRE is suited to high-refresh 1440p gaming and capable 4K play at high settings. It appeals to buyers who want Navi 31-class performance without paying for the full RX 7900 XT or XTX, and who find the RX 7800 XT insufficient for their target resolution or frame rate.
