Hardware Profile
Overview
The GIGABYTE AORUS GTX 1080 Gaming Box is an external GPU enclosure from 2016 that houses a desktop NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 inside a compact chassis, allowing a laptop or small-form-factor system to gain discrete graphics over a single connection.
The dock contains the full Pascal-based GTX 1080 with 8GB of GDDR5X memory on a 256-bit bus, 320 GB/s of bandwidth and 2,560 CUDA cores, and it runs at a 180W power rating. It was aimed at notebook and mini-PC owners who wanted desktop-grade Pascal gaming and GPU-accelerated performance without building a full tower, and it stands as one of the earlier external graphics solutions built around a desktop-class card.
