Radeon RX 9070 GRE

The Radeon RX 9070 GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition) is AMD's cut-down RDNA 4 card, slotting between the RX 9060 XT and the full RX 9070 in the RX 9000 lineup. Like its RDNA 3 predecessor, the RX 7900 GRE, it launched exclusively in China before AMD brought it to the rest of the world in June 2026.

The RX 9070 GRE carries 12GB of GDDR6 on a 192-bit bus, a narrower memory configuration than the 16GB/256-bit RX 9070 it sits below. It's built on the same Navi 48 die as the rest of the RX 9000 family, but with only 48 of the 64 available compute units enabled — fewer than even the standard RX 9070. RDNA 4's second-generation ray tracing hardware, FSR 4 upscaling, and full AV1 hardware encode/decode are all carried over unchanged. The card runs at a 220W TDP, identical to the fuller RX 9070 despite the reduced core count.

With 12GB of VRAM and a compute-unit count between the RX 9060 XT and RX 9070, the RX 9070 GRE is aimed at solid 1440p gaming rather than 4K headroom. It suits buyers who want RDNA 4's architectural gains — better ray tracing and FSR 4 — at a price positioned to bridge the gap between AMD's mid-range and upper-mid-range tiers, without the RX 9070's extra 4GB of VRAM.
