Overview
The Radeon RX 7800 XT is AMD's performance-tier RDNA 3 graphics card, launched in September 2023 alongside the RX 7700 XT and positioned as the successor to the RX 6800. It targets the enthusiast 1440p market and represents one of AMD's stronger value propositions in the RDNA 3 generation.
It features 16GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, a wide bandwidth allocation that gives it an advantage in texture-heavy and memory-intensive workloads. RDNA 3's improved hardware ray tracing, AV1 hardware encoding, and FSR 3 with Fluid Motion Frames are all supported. The chiplet design carries over from the rest of the RDNA 3 generation.
The RX 7800 XT is built for high-refresh 1440p gaming and entry-level 4K. The 16GB VRAM makes it resilient in demanding modern titles and suitable for lighter creative workloads. It appeals to buyers seeking strong 1440p performance and ample memory without crossing into high-end territory.
