Overview
The GeForce RTX 3070 is NVIDIA's upper mid-range Ampere graphics card, released in late 2020. It succeeded the RTX 2070 Super and was notably positioned as a rival to the previous-generation RTX 2080 — a card that launched at twice the price.
The RTX 3070 carries 8GB of GDDR6 memory and features 2nd-generation RT cores, 3rd-generation Tensor cores, and DLSS 2 support. These Ampere-generation capabilities deliver a significant generational leap in both raw rasterization and ray-traced performance compared to Turing.
At a $499 MSRP, the RTX 3070 was designed primarily for 1440p gaming, where it handles demanding titles at high refresh rates with ease. It suits mainstream enthusiasts looking for strong 1440p performance and a capable entry point into ray tracing and DLSS-accelerated gameplay.
