Overview
The Radeon RX 6800 is AMD's high-end RDNA 2 graphics card, launched in late 2020 as AMD's direct response to NVIDIA's RTX 3070. It marked a significant generational leap for AMD, bringing the company back to competitive footing at the high end after several years of absence.
It is equipped with 16GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, complemented by AMD's 128MB Infinity Cache which greatly amplifies effective bandwidth. Hardware-accelerated ray tracing is included, alongside support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution. The 16GB VRAM allocation is a standout at this tier, providing headroom for high-resolution textures and future workloads.
The RX 6800 targets 1440p and entry-level 4K gaming, handling both resolutions comfortably at high settings. It suits buyers who prioritize large VRAM capacity and strong rasterization performance, and who may be working with content creation tasks that benefit from the memory headroom.
