Overview

The Radeon RX 6650 XT is a refreshed variant of the RX 6600 XT, launched in May 2022 at $399 as part of AMD's mid-cycle RDNA 2 refresh alongside the RX 6750 XT and RX 6950 XT. It uses the same Navi 23 GPU as the RX 6600 XT but with higher default and boost clock speeds, and switches to faster GDDR6 memory operating at a higher data rate β€” resulting in a modest but consistent performance uplift.

Like the RX 6600 XT, the RX 6650 XT carries 8GB of GDDR6 on a 128-bit bus backed by 32MB of Infinity Cache, and includes hardware ray tracing support introduced with RDNA 2. The faster memory helps improve bandwidth-constrained scenarios, partially compensating for the narrow bus. FidelityFX Super Resolution is supported across software, though hardware AV1 encoding is absent on the RDNA 2 generation. The TDP of approximately 180W reflects the higher clocks, requiring a single 8-pin power connector.

The RX 6650 XT is aimed squarely at 1080p gaming, where it offers a slight edge over the RX 6600 XT thanks to its higher clocks and faster memory. It can also handle 1440p in titles with moderate demands. It suits buyers who want the best performance available in the Navi 23 die, or those who find the RX 6650 XT available at attractive used prices compared to newer-generation alternatives.
