Overview
The Radeon RX 6600 XT is AMD's upper-mainstream RDNA 2 graphics card, launched in August 2021 at $379 β slightly ahead of the standard RX 6600 that followed in October. Built on the Navi 23 GPU with all compute units active, it competes in the same 1080p-focused tier but with higher clock speeds and more performance headroom than its non-XT sibling.
The RX 6600 XT uses 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus, the same configuration as the RX 6600, and pairs it with 32MB of Infinity Cache to boost effective bandwidth. RDNA 2's hardware ray tracing is present on this card, and FidelityFX Super Resolution is available in software. The card's TDP of approximately 160W is still moderate, powered by a single 8-pin connector. There is no hardware AV1 encoding on RDNA 2 cards; that feature arrived with RDNA 3.
The RX 6600 XT was designed with 1080p gaming as its primary target, and it excels in that role β particularly at high refresh rates where fast cards matter for competitive gaming. It also manages 1440p in less demanding titles. Buyers seeking the best 1080p performance from the RDNA 2 generation, or those who want high frame rates for esports at 1080p, will find it a strong option in the used market.
