Overview
The GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER is NVIDIA's mid-cycle refresh of the RTX 2080, introduced in July 2019 at the same $699 MSRP. Like the other SUPER variants, it improves on the base model's specifications without changing the price, offering a better option than the original RTX 2080 for buyers entering the market after the refresh.
It retains the Turing architecture with 8GB of GDDR6 memory, 1st-generation RT cores, and Tensor cores supporting DLSS 1. Compared to the standard RTX 2080, the SUPER version features more CUDA cores and higher memory bandwidth, narrowing the gap with the RTX 2080 Ti. Its TDP rises to approximately 250W, requiring adequate case airflow and a capable power supply.
The RTX 2080 SUPER is designed for 4K gaming at high to ultra settings and performs well at high-refresh 1440p. It appeals to users who want near-flagship Turing performance without the premium of the RTX 2080 Ti, and those who skipped the original RTX 2080 launch and are evaluating used or current market options.
