Overview
The GeForce GTX 980 Ti is the top-tier Maxwell consumer GPU, released in mid-2015 as the enthusiast variant above the GTX 980. It used the same GM200 die as the prosumer TITAN X, with a modest shader count reduction, making it effectively the highest-performance single-GPU option for gamers at its launch price.
Equipped with 6GB of GDDR5 memory and a TDP of 250W, the GTX 980 Ti offered TITAN X-class performance at a substantially lower price β widely regarded as excellent value at the time. Like all Maxwell-generation cards, it has no hardware ray-tracing cores, no Tensor cores, and no DLSS.
The GTX 980 Ti was built for high-refresh 1440p gaming and capable 4K gaming, targeting enthusiasts who wanted the best consumer-class gaming performance without paying TITAN pricing. It remains a notable card in NVIDIA's history for its strong generational performance and competitive positioning against the TITAN X.
