Overview
The Radeon PRO W5500 is AMD's mainstream RDNA 1 workstation GPU and the mid-tier entry of the Radeon Pro W5000 series. Built on the Navi 14 die using TSMC's N7 process, it was AMD's first professional GPU generation based on the RDNA architecture, introducing hardware-accelerated ray tracing and PCIe 4.0 connectivity to the professional segment.
The card carries 8GB of GDDR6 memory with ECC support on a 128-bit memory interface delivering 224 GB/s of bandwidth. It features 1408 stream processors for approximately 5.0 TFLOPS of FP32 compute. At 75W TDP in a dual-slot form factor on a PCIe 4.0 x8 interface, it runs AMD's Radeon Pro certified professional driver stack with ISV certification.
The Radeon PRO W5500 suits professional visualization, CAD/CAE, 3D rendering, and media production workloads where AMD ISV certification is required at a mainstream power budget. As a now-discontinued predecessor to the W6000 and W7000 series, it may be found in the secondary market as a cost-effective entry into certified professional GPU workloads for users whose projects remain within its 8GB framebuffer.
